Absolutely love it, non greasy, no streaks, no burns, and no toxins
I'm late to the game and just realized that there are lots of harmful agents in even the supposedly gentle sunscreen for kids. We went thru testing lots of sunscreens, but b/c I don't want the chemical blocks (anything that doesn't have titanium or zinc oxide) that'd react with skin, we usually use Bull Frog Solarsphere (which is pretty good) but it's very thick and white, even though it does the job done. I was forced to use chemical blocks (most of the products on the market) but non are as effective as the physical block sunscreens (ie, those with titanium oxide). I was so happy to have found California Baby sunscreen at a friend's recommendation. Before I bought it I cautiously read the reviews on Amazon, especially the negative ones. I'm glad I did, b/c apparently there are different types of California Baby, some aren't PABA free.This one, the one says fragrant free, does NOT contain PABA. Really awesome sunscreen
This sunscreen has no dangerous chemicals in it. The tube fits easily into your purse or beach bag and you don't have to worry about the product running out of the container as this sunscreen is almost a cream-like consistency. A little goes a long way. One tube lasted my two kids and me a whole summer. It's a little more expensive than your typical drugstore type sunscreen but the fact that it's safe and doesn't have a laundry list of chemicals in it makes it worth the $.

I've Tried So Many of Them!
I've tried so many of the chemical-free sunscreens on the market including California Baby (stick and lotion), Sunny Days (stick), Ocean Potion Naturals, UV Natural Baby, Neutrogena Sensitive Skin mineral sunblock, Alba Botanica "SUN" kids mineral sunscreen...to name the ones I can remember. I like BurnOut Kids the best for several reasons: 1) it works well even on my son's pasty-white skin 2) it's not greasy at all 3) it blends in really well and doesn't leave you looking too white. 4) And most important, it got really safe marks on the EWG (Environmental Working Group) web site. The only negative is it leaves your skin with a slightly tacky feeling, but to me it's much better than a greasy feeling.

Best of 3 sunscreens tried
We tried Burnout along with Blue Lizard and Hara after learning a bit from the Environmental Working Group's 2010 sunscreen reviews on toxicity. Burnout was the most expensive but did the best job. We were in full August sun for two weeks at the Jersey shore. No reapplication necessary from what we noticed and we never burned. Easier to apply than Hara and Blue Lizard and no smell whatsoever.

Somewhat sticky but extremely effective
This is not a holy grail sunscreen for me, but it's darn good. I've tried three versions of BurnOut. It is somewhat sticky and it takes a few minutes to spread evenly. The stickiness is worth putting up with. Be sure to use enough -- you need about 1/4 teaspoon for your face. Burnout is not as white as Badger or Loving Naturals, but it IS a bit white. Any zinc oxide sunscreen is going to be. Sometimes I mix a little gel bronzer in it to tone down the whiteness. Many days, I just put up with it. I am an outdoorsy type who is most concerned with protection.I live in the southern US and spend time on the beach. I can assure you that, properly applied, there is NO tanning with this sunscreen. I can spend two entire days on a Gulf Coast beach and return home without a single tan line.

Great Natural Spray-On Sunscreen!
We were so excited to find the All Terrain sunscreen spray on Amazon- its hard to find in stores! We read about it on one of the EWG websites and decided to give it a try. It took a while for it to arrive but was really worth the wait. Just spray it on and it rubs right in. It is a little greasy, so make sure to have hand wipes around if you are out and about to clean it off (and don't get it on clothes). My kids are both impatient and very fair-skinned so this was perfect for our hot, sunny, Mid-Atlantic outdoor play. It really does last a long time and did not come off in the pool. Its a bit on the pricy side, but a lot of the "natural" or "organic" sun blocks usually are since they are not as common. The smell is not bad either, kind of neutral.Get it while it lasts since its really, really hard to find in stores...

Natural and works well!
I decided to try it for my toddler because it is all natural and I thought a spray would be easy. I love that it's natural, no chemicals. The spay makes it easy to apply. It stays on well in water and stays on for a long time. It seems like I don't really need to reapply it very often. I use it on my toddler and myself for swimming. The only thing I don't absolutely love about it is that it is on the oily side.

Best sunscreen
I was looking for a good, natural sunscreen for my 8 month old daughter and I ordered this one even after reading that the other Badger sunscreens left baby's face all white. This is not true! I even use it on my face and I do not look like a mime! It actually rubs in really well and does not leave my face all greasy. It is easy to apply on my baby and seems to protect her very well from the sun.I will definitely buy this sunscreen again.

Purchased after reading EWG ratings.
I purchased this after researching the Environmental Working Groups 2009 findings. It goes on white but after you rub it in for a while the "ghost" appearance goes away. If I sweat at all the sunblock builds up in any natural crevaces or wrinkles in my skin and is noticable. I work outside all day and I only apply once in the morning and it does perform all day for me without re-applying. I live in a humid warm/hot climate (SC) during the summer and this sunblock does feel oily and will rub off if you tend to scratch or rub where the sunblock is applied. Overall this sunblock performs well. It is worth the peace of mind knowing that I am doing what I can to not use harmful chemicals or at least reduce them.

I'm a redhead with freckles. I've been searching for 4 years for a safe, effective, non-greasy and non-whitening alternative to my chemical sunblock, trying many from the EWG's top sunscreen lists each year. I had tried the badger sunblock in the purple tube 2 years ago and found it too greasy and too whitening. for some reason I gave this tan-colored tube of badger a try to see if they had improved the formula. yay! they have!this product is not perfect, but is pretty good in many of my requirements:doesn't burn me (A+)non-toxic (A+)doesn't turn me white (A-)not greasy (B+)doesn't turn my clothes or furniture white (B-)if you rub it in well it's neither too greasy nor too white.the cons:-after some time I do find that white lines accumulate around my inner elbows, but I just rub that back in.-some of my clothes get light white lines on them, but it seems to come out in the wash.-i am still a bit...

I have HEAVILY researched sunscreens for about 6 months. Here are my concerns and some some facts I have learned. I have no affiliation with any company. I am not a scientist. I have a newborn on the way and my wife and I live in a very hot area and we both are light skinned, and I am anal and analytical to a fault. take from this what you will.1. Harmful cancer-causing sunlight consists of UVA and UVB rays. But UVB are the rays that cause a tan. If you are not burning, you can still be getting pelted by UVA rays and not even know it-- Ask any dermatologist--Many people get cancer on their hands and arms even though they think they are always covering up, but in fact when driving for decades, UVA is damanging their skin badly--UVA can penetrate glass--2. "SPF" protection refers only to UVB protection. Many of the worst melanomas and skim damage are caused by UVA, although both UVA and UVB are very harmful. works and doesn't sting
My dermatologist told me to use Vanicream or Neutrogena for my melasma. Neutrogena stings like crazy after using an exfoliator or Retin-A. Vanicream feels like a dream. I have never had any tanning or darkening of spots when I have it on. I have normal to oily skin and it doesn't make me break out. It is a little oily, but only if you lay it on too thick. If you want a matte finish to your face, that's what face powder was made for!

I was looking for a safe, effective sunsreen for my trip to Southeast Asia this summer. One of best on the market
Badger SPF 30 is hands down one of the best sunblocks on the market. Those people who are panning it are doing so because they did not read the instructions; they used it like the stuff they buy at the drugstore - all the big brand-name products that cost a lot, say "apply thickly and let soak in", and don't do nearly the job of protecting your skin.READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you do, you will find this is the most effective sunblock you have ever used. It has NO odor, massages in quickly, leaving NO whiteness on the skin. The tiny amount necessary assures that this will be the least expensive sunblock you ever buy.I'm a redhead with very fair skin and I am particular about reading labels and understanding how sunblocks work - this is the only sunblock I use any more.And no, I neither work for, nor get money from, the Badger Company. I bought this product online last year because NOTHING was working for my fair skinned 7 year old. no matter what the SPF on the bottle said, she would burn and her nose would blister. I read an article on ewg.org about SPF's not being advertised properly because of the chemicals in the sun screen actually counter acting it! insane, all this money blown for nothing. so I tried, one last time, and badger worked! I had no issues with it absorbing into her skin, but I had also been forwarned that a little goes a long way. she was able to enjoy her summer with no painful sunburn on her face! and no new freckles ;) I misplaced my sunscreen from last summer and am now getting ready to buy another one for the so cal sun.

I picked a tube of this up for $10.99 at our local market after reading on cosmeticdatabase that it's one of the safest and most natural sunscreens on the market. It rated a 0, which is the safest rating.It comes out of the tube thick and a little gritty, as others have mentioned, but I had no problem getting it to properly absorb into my skin. It takes an additional five or ten seconds to rub it in thoroughly, which smooths out of the consistency and dramatically reduces the "white face" effect. I'm not sure what the big deal is with taking a few extra seconds to rub it in; other reviewers sound like they're in a mighty hurry to rush out into the sun :)I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because I've only been using it for awhile. So far I like it a lot.
