Here's how to use this as a shampoo, among other uses.
I didn't see many reviews talking at length about using this as a shampoo, so I thought I would add one. Expect my personal experiences and opinion, identified as such, mixed in.I use this soap for shampoo, body wash, face wash, I put it in my bath, I've used it to clean my counters, I've used it to clean dishes. The peppermint is my favorite, especially for soaking in the bath because it tingles and it's the best scented in my opinion, also for shampoo, again because it tingles.To clean, I put a little on a damp terry cleaning cloth or kitchen towel and just wipe. I use it on kitchen and bathroom counters, and I dissolve it in water to mop with. I prefer to use the tea tree for cleaning.As a shampoo, I am puzzled by all the claims I had heard online about castile soap/saponified oil being drying to the hair, and I suspect that many of the people making those claims either haven't tried it and are just perpetuating the general misconception, or...

Wonderful natural soap
The reviews that say this smells like tar, I'm puzzled by.Anyone buying tea tree oil soap, one would think, is buying it because of its antiseptic properties, in which case, one would think that you would know that tea tree oil smells strongly. I dont understand why people would buy the tea tree oil soap expecting it to smell like flowers... thats just silly.I dont know about "tar" though. It smells like tea tree oil, which is sort of minty, strong smell, I dont find it unpleasant, myself.I like the smell of tea tree!Anyway, I bought this soap to be an antiseptic soap to wash my piercings and keep them clean and free of infection, and thats what this soap does. Its Gentile, cleansing, and it kills germs, what else do you need soap to do?This soap is very thin, but dont be fooled! a little goes a LONG way. I use a tiny drop to wash my hands, and a Qtip to wash my ears. It lathers a lot, and you dont need a ton of it...

Best cleaner for leather goods!!
This soap not only smells wonderful, but this and all castile soaps are the best leather cleaners in the world!! I use this on my saddle, bridle, and leather boots. The reason it cleans leather so well is because it doesn't strip any natural oils from the leather or add unwanted extra oils either!! Plus, it doesn't leave leather goods too sticky!! Oh yea, and because it's all natural, you can use it to wash other things, and use it as a back-up horse shampoo, without worry of harming your horse (or yourself)!!!

Great soap especially when its hot!
I am a soldier serving in Iraq, where as you may know, it gets pretty hot here. After a full day out in the desert sun in all of my gear, I find myself dreaming of the moment when I can get in the shower and cool off with Dr. Bronner's soap. It works great. Lathers great, and leaves me feeling cleaner than chemical soaps, not to mention the fact that it feels very cool and tingly. Although I am military, which may go against what Dr. Bronner's philosophy suggests, I am a country boy who loves the outdoors, and the conservation and protection of our environment. I will always choose products made in America so as to support the businesses of my fellow Americans, and will always choose organic items over those items which use ingredients that I can't pronounce, or in which animals are senselessly wasted.I suggest you use this product for all the right reasons.

Wonderful scent, great all-purpose soap!
I love the scent of almond, and this soap has a wonderful, lightly sweet almond scent. The ingredients are all natural, no man-made chemicals, no animal testing, and organic too! I love the way my skin feels after wahing with this soap, squeaky-clean. I also love that it will not leave a nasty soap scum on my shower, bathtub or sink. I am usually VERY particular about the shampoo I use, but I tried this soap out on my hair too, just for the heck of it. My naturally curly hair needs some form of conditioner or it gets frizzy - so I follwed up with my usual leave-in anti-friz product and my hair looked great. It didn't leave my hair feeling dry, or heavy, but instead it felt light and bouncy, and my curls seemed to have a better definition. So, now I soap up from head to toe with Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap, and I feel good about my choice.

another wonderful benefit
I absolutely LOVE this soap, for all the reasons mentioned by others, but also another that no one seems to notice. The eucalyptus soap has fabulous mosquito-repelling properties!!! Mosquitos normally eat me alive in the first 30 seconds of being outside, but if I have showered with this eucalyptus soap, they don't touch me. And I am one of those people that has unsuccessfully tried many things to repel mosquitos: repellent spray, eating garlic, taking extra B1, etc. This soap is my savior from those blood-sucking little jerks!!!

I'm in love with a bar of soap!
My brother has used Dr. B's for years. I thought it was just some kind of goofy granola bar, hippie gimmick until I decided to try it for myself. I'm in love. From the beautiful eucalyptus scent, to the creamy smooth lather, to the way it completely rinses away, I am amazed. Okay this is coming from a Dial user, so you would think anything of quality would seem great by comparison but really this stuff is unbelievable. My wife suffers from dry skin and used Dove until she tried Dr. B's now she's hooked too. She even noticed the clearing of her eczema. And at Amazon's price you can't beat the value. To top it all off it's organic and Fair-Trade responsible.

Perfect
I really wanted a bar soap that I could use for all washing in the shower including hair. I was highly skeptical and figured theres no way it would make a good shampoo but tried it anyway, it lathered in my hair extremely well, but when rinsed it did feel as if it stripped all the natural oil and though oh no it's gonna cause dry itchy scalp, but after I conditioned that squeaky stripped feeling completely went away and after my hair dried it was perfectly fine, not dry at all.. So to my surprise this soap worked as a shampoo! And this eucalyptus scent is amazing! It's very warm and spicy, which I love. Ps aside from a shampoo I also used this all over the rest of my body including my face and used it to shave, it was just great all around. Maybe if more people buy it, the price will go down?! Lol buy it!

One typically thinks of the Eucalyptus Aura as overpowering but this has a light clean scent that survived the long hot summer days. Great skin conditioning, no over-drying or coated feeling upon exiting shower. Only it dissolves fairly rapidly; lasted only a week-10 days...so based on that factor I gave 4 stars but not sure that can be resolved
