Highly recommended - especially for people with Chemical Sensitivities
This soap is fantastic. I use if for everything. I am severely chemically sensitive and almost all the soaps, all the detergents and such on the market make me extremely ill. This is the only thing I can use. I use it for cleaning the toilet, counters, floors, as a body soap and sometimes as a shampoo (but it is a little drying). I am unable to tolerate the ones that have essential oils added (the scented ones), but this unscented (baby, mild) one is perfect. In the shower it lathers up very nicely. I buy it in this size bottle because the big gallon ones are hard to find in the unscented and hard to handle and the smaller ones are more expensive for me. My family (of three) goes through one bottle per month. Since this is very concentrated only a little tiny bit goes a very long way.

great soap
I bought this soap because I was looking for a shampoo without harmful lathering agents. My hair has been super tangly all my life. I used TONS of conditioners on it and still, within an half-hour after brushing it would be a tangly mop. I recently tried a commercial no-lather shampoo and loved it, but it cost WAY too much, and I went through one bottle in less than a month. I found a recipe on-line for a homemade shampoo using castile soap, so i bought this and it works wonderfully as long as you use an apple cider vinegar conditioning rinse afterward. I did not know about the rinse at first, and I admit the shampoo made my hair thick and waxy feeling, but once I used the rinse....,FANTASTIC. My hair is so smooth and shiny, I blow it dry after showering, and I hardly have to brush it at all. My hair reaches my shoulder blades, and has always been unruly so this is amazing. Trial and error resulted in HUGE success....
The shampoo itchies drove into the arms of Dr. Bronner. The first time I used Dr. Bronner's Baby Castile Soap on my hair, I had that sinking feeling in my stomach upon rinsing...my hair felt soooo sticky. No time to start all over, so I just slathered on some creme rinse. Words can not convey my surprise when I rinsed the 'rinse' and then stood in front of the mirror. Even wet, my hair has life and body in it; then when it dries, the results are soft, managable, and oh the curls. Nothing to date has even given me these results. As for toothpaste, well...50 years of commercial toothpaste has warped my perceptions but I am willing to learn (slowly). By the way, you should see what this stuff can do when applied to household cleaning (windows not included), it makes my hardwood floors shine.

Kirk's can Soap Up!
My search for the perfect soap is completely over! Kirks Original Castile Soap is the best you can buy! I truly do not care for wacky body soaps with scents. They never seem to get your skin clean.Several friends kept telling me that this was the best however no one around here sells it so I was never able to try it. I just happened upon it in Cracker Barrel and picked up a bar.Oh my! The lather was unbelievable! The scent was clean and not overpowering! My skin felt nourished and clean! I even washed my hair with it and it left a clean shine to my hair. It was an answer to a prayer years in the making from a search for the perfect soap. best soap on earth
i'm not a snob. i'm just a regular joe. i don't drink cristal or stay in 12-star hotels or sleep on 5-million thread count sheets. but since i used this soap several years ago on a whim, i've never used anything else.this soap makes handfuls of creamy lather and cleans grime better than most bar soaps. it rinses off cleanly and leaves behind a very mild, clean scent. i even travel with it, leaving a bar behind when i check out of the motel or leave a friend's house.there are two possible downsides to this fantastic soap: first, it is a very 'soft' soap, meaning it dissolves quickly. if you leave it on the little soap shelf in the stream of the shower, it will disappear way before its time. second, it can irritate very young, tender skin if it's not rinsed promptly. keeping these qualities in mind, this is the only soap in my world. so i guess i'm a soap snob? so be it.note- there's a liquid version of this soap, and it's good but not as good as the bars.

Kirk's Versus Cal-Ben
As a long time user of natural soap I simply refuse to pay the price for Dr. Bronners or Tom's of Maine. These cost way too much. So the other options are Kirk's Castille Soap or Cal-Ben Five Star Soap. Also several brands of clear glycerine soaps are available, but these don't lather very well. I bought both Kirk's and Cal-Ben and tried them out. Both are excellent and very similar. Cal-Ben is 3 oz compared to Kirk's 4 oz but it seems harder and more compressed, thus longer lasting. They both lather up about the same amount. Kirk's has an Ivory type smell where the Cal-Ben has an extremely nice almond scent. The Cal-Ben seems to cut through dirt a little better. Kirk's is a nice soap but I give Cal-Ben the edge. Both cost about the same.

The same excellent quality that you expect from Dr. Bronner's soaps
I am using Dr. Bronner's castile soaps for quite a while now. I have almost stopped using commercial products that have dangerous and unnecessary chemicals in them. Most of the commercially available soaps clean the skin, but leave the skin dry. Dr. Bronner's castile soap, on the other hand, both cleans the skin, and leave it moisturized. Before this product, I was using Peppermint castile soap. I liked that it left my skin cool. I was curious to try another of Dr. Bronner's soaps. This soap has a very sweet smell of orange which I like. Moreover, it has the same excellent quality that you expect from Dr. Bronner's soaps. I really recommend it for castile soap users who want to try a new scent.

Best Soap Ever!
I've been using Dr. Bronner's for 20 years now, it's just as good as it's always been. I particularly like the Citrus. Excellent value, a little goes a ong way. I don't recommend it as a shampoo if you have very hard water, but it works great in hard water as a body wash.

Love the smell
I'm in the midst of 'cleaning' my beauty/skincare products, which means finding products that use only organic ingredients and without nasty chemicals. I have heard about Dr. Bronner soaps for a while now and I finally decided to give it a try, since it got such great reviews.I have been using the soap as a body wash for over 2 weeks now, and I love it. It smells great, great value for the amount you are getting and it just feels good to know that it's organic and not harming my body. I am also going to try to use it as a shampoo when my current shampoo runs out. So cool that there are like a million uses! Mad props and highly recommend.

Unbelievably good soap!
Dr. Bronner's is really fantastic stuff! I keep find more and more uses for it around the house. We've gotten to the point that we have replaced all of our toxic synthetic chemical products with this! The only thing I find it terrible for is washing windows, it leaves a film and you spend more time removing the film than the dirt! Otherwise, this stuff can easily replace 6-10 products around the home.Be warned of this Peppermint, even though the peppermint is natural, it is extremely strong smelling. So strong, it can cause irritation for some people. I tried to use it on my floors, while it cleaned incredibly well, it nearly ran us out of the house the smell was so strong. This is even with me diluting it to a massive degree. I would recommend Peppermint for hand soap, dishes, laundry, anything outdoors. But would use something like Unscented, Lavender or Almond for general house cleaning, body soap and shampoo.We also found this product is fantastic...

A hippy favorite, so useful, and the label is tripped-out
Reading the label on this soap is quite an entertaining exercise, but the soap is one of the best. This is pure Castile (olive oil liquid) soap, and the peppermint scent is refreshing. Showering on a hot summer day with this soap is incredible. It's a must on camping trips--it is relatively easy for the environment to break down as it's natural and has no detergent. You can even use it to clean pots and pans while camping, and we do that.

It replaces lots of personal care products!
Dr. Bronner's liquid soap is great as soap, but it also works great as other things. It can be used as shampoo, as body wash, as shaving gel, and even for intimate washing because it's so gentle. However, the peppermint can be slightly irritating and stings for those last two, so it's better to use another, milder scent like lavender. The best discovery I've made is the shave gel--just lather it up on the area to be shaved and even though it doesn't foam as much as other products because it has no SLS, it is non-drying and doesn't strip the skin completely of it's natural oil. For me it even doesn't cause irritation bumps after shaving anywhere (which regular shave gel does).Another hint, if you use it as a shampoo and notice that your hair has a slightly waxy feel to it, use an apple cider vinegar rinse (just mix the vinegar and water in a bottle). Rinse it out a couple times after with plain water and it won't leave a vinegar smell on your hair. In fact, this soap leaves...

good soap, creepy label
a great soap but I'm a bit confused by all of the cluttered, crazy religious mumbo-jumbo on the label, not sure why soap needs to advertise the 'moral ABC that unites all mankind' and the 'second coming of gods law'.. but that aside - a WONDERFUL soap, very gentle, leaves a fresh scent, isn't tested on animals and is concentrated so you get a lot out of the small bottle. just utterly creeped out by the label.

Excellent for use in cloth wipe solution!
Our family uses cloth diapers and wipes exclusively, and I make my own cloth wipe solution. Dr. Bronner's is an excellent soap to use for cloth wipes. It is mild and does not irritate my little one's sensitive bum. Just mix a TB of apricot oil, a cup of water, and a TB of Dr. Bronner's in a spray bottle, and you're good to go!

I love this stuff!
Well, its winter and my skin dries up so much I'm pretty sure you could start a fire if you tried hard enough. Here's how to use this as a shampoo, among other uses.
I didn't see many reviews talking at length about using this as a shampoo, so I thought I would add one. Expect my personal experiences and opinion, identified as such, mixed in.I use this soap for shampoo, body wash, face wash, I put it in my bath, I've used it to clean my counters, I've used it to clean dishes. The peppermint is my favorite, especially for soaking in the bath because it tingles and it's the best scented in my opinion, also for shampoo, again because it tingles.To clean, I put a little on a damp terry cleaning cloth or kitchen towel and just wipe. I use it on kitchen and bathroom counters, and I dissolve it in water to mop with. I prefer to use the tea tree for cleaning.As a shampoo, I am puzzled by all the claims I had heard online about castile soap/saponified oil being drying to the hair, and I suspect that many of the people making those claims either haven't tried it and are just perpetuating the general misconception, or...

Wonderful natural soap
The reviews that say this smells like tar, I'm puzzled by.Anyone buying tea tree oil soap, one would think, is buying it because of its antiseptic properties, in which case, one would think that you would know that tea tree oil smells strongly. I dont understand why people would buy the tea tree oil soap expecting it to smell like flowers... thats just silly.I dont know about "tar" though. It smells like tea tree oil, which is sort of minty, strong smell, I dont find it unpleasant, myself.I like the smell of tea tree!Anyway, I bought this soap to be an antiseptic soap to wash my piercings and keep them clean and free of infection, and thats what this soap does. Its Gentile, cleansing, and it kills germs, what else do you need soap to do?This soap is very thin, but dont be fooled! a little goes a LONG way. I use a tiny drop to wash my hands, and a Qtip to wash my ears. It lathers a lot, and you dont need a ton of it...

Best cleaner for leather goods!!
This soap not only smells wonderful, but this and all castile soaps are the best leather cleaners in the world!! I use this on my saddle, bridle, and leather boots. The reason it cleans leather so well is because it doesn't strip any natural oils from the leather or add unwanted extra oils either!! Plus, it doesn't leave leather goods too sticky!! Oh yea, and because it's all natural, you can use it to wash other things, and use it as a back-up horse shampoo, without worry of harming your horse (or yourself)!!!
